Luton is a premiere Northwest artist who has created hundreds of dolls, and teaches a weekly class in the art to a few lucky students. Utilizing her own unique method of painting by incorporating the use of rapid-fire kilns, she expertly creates the life-like effect on the heads and limbs of her little people. Her modern dolls have cloth bodies which cover custom built and highly flexible armatures (skeletons) which make the dolls completely poseable. Luton's life-long love of dolls, and the peaceful joy she finds in the act of creation is clearly reflected in her outstanding dolls. Only the highest quality materials are used, and each doll is unique. Luton does not mass produce her pieces.
Potential centerpieces for the discriminating doll collector, and also ideal for people new to the hobby, Luton's creations are indeed-- --as they were described in Salem, Oregon's newspaper The Statesman Journal.
